About Shingo Yoshida
The journey is the central element in the works of Shingo Yoshida, who often goes to the remotest parts of the world to trace legends, myths and hidden places for his films and photographs. His path to the finished work is usually full of uncertainties: Where does the journey lead? Why travel to this place of all places? What are the artist's motives for travelling there? None of this is clearly formulated from the outset, but it seems as if his point is precisely to deliberately not decide. The artist's adventures require the greatest effort and patience, despite the adversities and hardships that often await him at his destination.

Yoshida is not concerned efficiency or with finding precise answers to concrete, clearly defined questions. For the artist, the path and the process  forms the actual work and the products that emerge in the process, such as photographs or film recordings, are less self-contained works of art that stand on their own, but rather fragments of a story that emerges retrospectively as result of journeying down the respective path. At the same time, they are fragments that foreshadow stories to come, so that in each individual piece a world of its own can be experienced with incomparable depth. By purchasing this special edition for the ARTvent, you become a patron of Yoshida's future projects.... show less
