Motoi Yamamoto - The Season of Purple (2018)

As part of the exhibition Altering Home - Culture City of East Asia 2018 Kanazawa (September 15 to November 4, 2018) Motoi Yamamoto presents his new salt installation The Season of Purple at Gen-Chan House in Kanazawa, Japan. The exhibition space is a salon that offers cancer patients and their families a space for meetings and exchanges. Yamamoto and his wife, who died two years ago, have always found a way to spend important, shared time: "The salon is in an area where my wife and I used to live, and it is a place where cancer patients and their families gather. On a path where we are going to take countless times, there is a tall purple magnolia tree, telling us it's spring time each year. It is my hope that you have a beautiful flower in the living room, who has lost your loved ones, and who is leaving the world so soon at a young age.
