03.01.2020

3m high and 77m long: With Evangelion Styrofoam, Yoshiaki Kaihatsu surely created the greatest work of his extremely productive career so far. This is due to the upcoming premiere of the movie "Evangelion: 3.0 + 1.0", the fourth and last part of a successful Japanese science fiction anime tetralogy, in which humanoid robots have to protect the Tokyo of the future from attackers. In his work, Kaihatsu tries to reconstruct the shapes of the Evalngelion robots using only styrofoam parts from his private collection. The drawing Evangelion Styrofoam, which is in public space, can currently be seen on the construction fence of the construction site of the former Tokyu Milano cinema in Shinjuku, Tokyo. A specially developed Evangelion app allows an additional connection to AR (Augmented Reality) with additional bonus content.
