In 2002, the CAI * CAI Contemporary Art Gallery, specializing in contemporary Japanese art, was established in Hamburg with the participation of the Sapporo-based gallery CAI Contemporary Art International and the Japanese company Prism Co., Ltd.
Subsequently, Mikiko Sato re-established the gallery in a new form and has continued its activities since 2008 under the name Mikiko Sato Gallery.
Focusing on poetic and conceptual works connected to Japanese aesthetics and perceptions of nature, she realizes exhibition projects, initiates and coordinates international exchange programs, and collaborates with companies and public institutions. Through these activities, she promotes international artistic dialogue between Japan and Europe.
