This year, Hamburg and Osaka are celebrating the 35th anniversary of their twinning. To honour this important anniversary, we have organised the exhibition ‘Drawn with All Waters’ at Art Osaka / Expanded, Kagoo (Kitagayaga), which features works by three contemporary artists from Hamburg (Germany). Since 1989, the two cities have maintained an ongoing cultural exchange, deepening their mutual friendship. The exhibition title is inspired by the German proverb ‘Mit allen Wassern gewaschen’ (meaning a clever, experienced and slightly devious person), with the last word ‘gewaschen’ intentionally replaced by ‘gezeichnet’. This playful title reflects the imaginative solutions that artists have to come up with when faced with challenges. The works of the participating artists invite visitors to participate in an increasingly globalised art discussion.
