We are pleased to present a fascinating new series of works by the Japanese artist Miyuki Tsugami. With the help of an elaborate two-stage process consisting of classical etching and the subsequent use of carborundum (a material first used for etchings in Spain and regularly used there by artists such as Tàpies), Tsugami has succeeded in impressively recreating not only the typical fine lines of intaglio printing, but also the expressive brushstrokes of her watercolors and oil paintings. Her focus on motifs such as urban and natural landscapes as well as natural detail studies such as violets and cherry blossoms remains unchanged.
The works can be viewed on our premises by appointment. Please contact us either by e-mail at info@mikikosatogallery.com or by telephone on 040 32 90 19 80.
