Motoi Yamamoto - The Season of Purple (2018)

Im Rahmen der Ausstellung Altering Home - Culture City of East Asia 2018 Kanazawa (15. September bis 4. November 2018) zeigt Motoi Yamamoto im Gen-Chan House in Kanazawa, Japan seine neue Salzinstallation The Season of Purple. Bei dem Ausstellungsort handelt sich um einen Salon, der Krebspatienten und deren Angehörigen einen Raum für Treffen und Austausch bietet. Auch Yamamoto und seine vor zwei Jahren an der Krankheit verstorbene Frau fanden dort immer wieder eine Möglichkeit wichtige, gemeinsame Zeit zu verbringen: „The salon is in an area where my wife and I used to live, and it is a place where cancer patients and their families gather. On a path where we used to take walks countless times, there stands a tall purple magnolia tree, telling us it's spring time each year. It is my hope that my installation may offer a scene like blossoming spring with beautiful purple flowers to people who gather at the salon, who had lost their loved ones, and to my wife and sister who left this world so soon at a young age.“
